NEW WORKSHOPS - NEW VENUES (FROM MAY 9TH)

Good afternoon everyone, here’s hoping you’ve had a good week. Thank you for all the positive comments regarding the news about us moving out of the shop in Hazelwood Lane, mobilising our workshops and selling our stock online. It really does mean alot to have our friends and community’s support.

We are very excited to start running workshops & our stitching circles from 9th May in several different venues including:-

* Arbeit Studios in Green Lanes, a great new local artists’ space who are very supportive of the culture and community of Palmers Green

* The Fox pub conference room

* The newly opened Firs Farm Community Hub, a modern, new space with a lovely Leon’s Café, situated at Firs Farm Playing Fields, in Firs Lane.

* The fabulous Philanthropy shop in Green Lanes

* And our knit and natter will be convening in the lovely My Time cafe on Tuesdays.

And watch this space for more venues being announced…please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you know of any venues, spaces who may be interested in us running workshops or any groups wanting creative workshops. We look forward to greeting you in these fabulous spaces.

SASHIKO WORKSHOP

Tricia is running another fabulous sashiko workshop for us at The Fox Pub, the afternoon of Saturday 8th June. If your favourite garments have become unwearable with holes and frays and you keen to learn how to repair them rather than buy new ones this is the workshop for you.

We are all learning more about the costly resources required to make our clothes and the problems of ‘fast fashion’. Tricia will guide you in this artistic visible way of mending and breathing new life in garments that would otherwise be left unworn or thrown out, the Japanese art of visible mending: Sashiko!

This is a class for all levels and so beginners and experienced stitchers welcome. You will learn about the fascinating historical background to Sashiko, examples of functional and decorative use of techniques, sample demonstration and practice as well as learning to sew using these techniques.
