Happy Easter from Stitch!
Happy Easter from Stitch! 17.04.25

Happy Easter greetings! How cute are these knitted egg cosies? Thank you Marion, from our Tuesday knit & natter, for our gorgeous home made Easter gifts! They have been cheering me up on my breakfast boiled eggs all week & will make a marvellous addition to the Easter table this weekend.
We have added this lovely make to our “Wow Wall” (which we regularly feature on our social media) which is a new link on our website so why not check out more great makes from our local crafting community, click on this link Wow Wall and please do send us photos of anything you are proud of making, that you’d like to be added for us all to admire.
Our fabulous knit and natter and stitching circle group are knitting and crocheting poppies as decorations for Palmers Green for the 80th anniversary of VE Day on the 8th May. If you want to get involved and make some of your own handmade poppies, we would be very grateful and you can drop them to us on Tuesdays 10-12 in the back room of the Kiva Cafe and Wednesdays 7-9pm at the Fox pub, all donations need to be delivered before 30th April. Any design of poppy is fine, there are lots of free patterns online.
Sewing machine: Next Steps- Jeans Bag! workshop
Mend it May is a worthwhile cause to be aware of next month. It’s an ethos we fully endorse at Stitch and incorporate into our daily lives- by learning the art of mending we’re not only protecting the clothes we already love but we’re also keeping garments and fabric in circulation, reducing the need for new production. It certainly feels good to know you have these skills to “do your bit.”
With this in mind, we have a great workshop coming up - an upcycling project from old jeans to make into a bag, this is our next steps sewing workshop. Don't worry if there are holes in the knees, tears or scuffed hems, this all works fine once turned into a bag. A great practical class using a sewing machine to extend your skills and create something worthwhile and useful.
We also have a new dressmaking workshop- Sew A Skirt Summer Skirt on Saturday 17th May, again with expert seamstress Pat. This class is perfect for those with a basic understanding of how to use a sewing machine, it is a great follow on class from our beginners class. Pat will guide you through everything you need to take the next steps in your sewing journey to dressmaking. You will make a summer skirt that you can be proud to wear.
We are still running a survey to help shape our application for funding with the National Lottery Community Fund and an Awards for All application. These workshops will be for members of our local community struggling with mental health difficulties in conjunction with MIND, if possible, participants can make suggestions so we would love input and feedback if you feel they are relevant to you or anyone you know/or organisations.
