Don’t forget from 9th May we start running our workshops in several different venues including Arbeit Studios, The Fox pub, Firs Farm Community Hub, Philanthropy and our knit and natter will be convening in the lovely My Time cafe on Tuesdays. Looking forward to spreading our wings and reach and as I said last week please let us know of any groups, spaces, corporate companies that might like us to run our workshops. We really appreciate the support during this time of transition.
CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP
We have plenty of spaces available on this soothing workshop on Thursday evening learning the beautiful art of calligraphy with local calligrapher, Sam Brown. Sam makes gorgeous modern calligraphy products for weddings and special occasions from her home in Palmers Green. You can find her on social media - @samslittlestudio.
This relaxed two-hour evening workshop will teach you all the basics of modern calligraphy, and you'll leave with the equipment and the knowledge you need to continue writing beautifully at home.
After the demonstration of the tools and techniques of the style, you’ll dive straight into practicing the fundamental strokes, before moving onto the alphabet. The small class size means that there would be plenty of opportunity for one on one teaching and troubleshooting. Blank cards, gift tags, and bookmarks will be provided for you to decorate using your new skills. All participants will receive their own calligraphy kit (including nib and holder, ink and worksheets, all in a cotton tote bag) to use in the class and take away with them afterwards. You only need to bring yourself and you will receive a lovely starter kit to take home! What’s not to love?
CROCHET BASKET WORKSHOP
This class is the ideal follow-on to the Learn to Crochet Beginners workshops or for anyone who would like to learn a new technique – it is suitable for anyone with basic crochet experience.
Once you can work in flat rows, it’s time to discover how to shape your crochet, making these contemporary baskets working ‘in the round’ and learning how to increase in double crochet and working the back loop.
We provide the wool, written instructions and hook to make your basket!
